M1824 Infant. non-com officer’s saber

This is a really strange, little saber that I don’t even understand why was made. Norway had tons of M1801 hirschfängers, M1753 infantry sabers etc., why produce something new and all different? Evidently somebody got the same idea, because there were not produced very many of them and they are pretty hard to find.

It came with two slightly different hilts, the guard is not bent to far out on the other one. But the grip always has 21 grooves. Produced at Kongsberg.

The picture below shoes just how small it really is when compared to a M1825 Cavalry saber.
