M1819 Infanterioffiserkorde

According to the uniform regulations of 1818, all infantry officers were to carry a small-sword and in 1819 this sword was introduced in Norway and Sweden. The only difference between the two, was that the Swedish had the three crowns on the blade and the Norwegian the lion holding the axe.

The sword was produced at Eskilstuna in Sweden and the blade tang is marked “Engberg”, but there exists some swords where the blade is marked with the crowned K for Kongsberg. Kongsberg might have replaced some blades with new produced at Kongsberg, but it is also possible that some of these small-swords were produced at Kongsberg.
