Officer’s small-sword appr. 1700
There is something about small-swords that just does not ring my bell, I like the big, heavy cavalry swords or the elegant German rapiers etc., but not these flimsy, almost feminine, “toothpicks”. But, they also are part of the history.
The crossbar is a little amputated on this one and the grip’s brass thread had gone, except for this, it is in a fantastic condition with no pitting and the blade in full length. This particular sword might actually be a little older than stated in the heading – from the 1690’s. Officer’s small-swords from around 1700 are fairly common in Denmark, but not quite that easy to find in Norway.
