M1788 Sniper Musket

This is the M17788/1841/51 pillar breech percussion rifle version of the sniper musket, I regretfully do not have the original flintlock musket in my collection.

The M1788 has much in common with the M1774, but had a “snipers rear sight” and a ramrod bayonet. The ramrod was three-edged bladed on the one end and cylindrical on the other. When used as bayonet it was turned around and held by the oversized and very rugged three pipes for the ramrod.
